The Asphalt Unit is responsible for undertaking all asphalting work, such as the national roads resurfacing program, surfacing of new roads, potholes, private works, and other public works.
It also functions as the arm of the agency tasked to continuously develop, ensuring the safety of all infrastructure facilities and securing for all public works and highways with the highest efficiency and quality when doing road asphalting work.
The unit consists of the sole laboratory in Seychelles capable of testing samples for the built industry, taking on the mantle for quality assurance on State-wide projects.
A 24-hour responsive unit, in cases where the road surface has sustained damage that has rendered it unusable to traffic, the unit is deployed to carry out emergency works to reinstate the road during and after working hours.
