A comprehensive overview of active and recently completed capital, maintenance, and traffic projects across Seychelles
The Seychelles is a Large Ocean State with only a total land area of approximately 455 sqkm in an extensive 1.34 million sqkm of Exclusive Economic Zone. The archipelago consists of 115 islands however it is only the main inner islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue that have a developed road network.
The developing country’s public land transport systems are private bus, taxi and omnibus with no train options alongside private vehicles resulting in the road network being asphalt two lane primary roads and singular lane secondary roads in less populated areas. The country has one singular coastal four lane Highway on the east coast of the main island Mahe running from its solitary Seychelles International Airport to its capital city, Victoria.
As the demands for modernized motorable transportation systems increase to reflect the country’s developmental aspirations, the Seychelles Land Transport Agency has leveraged its resources to cater for it through planned and closely monitored projects.
